Hints for "The Forsaken" by Chris "Drizzt" Risberg risberg@aol.com A Blades of Exile Scenario v1.5.0 Rough walkthrough for The Forsaken: Empire Camp: Talk with Janus to get your mission. Bandit base is hidden in the mountains to the SE through a secret passage. Bandit Base: Make sure you kill the leader. He is found in the SW corner of level 2. Ruined Camp: Things are a bit different, now. Explore the previously inaccessible building. Keptus: Your goal here is to find Peter before day 4. You can find Peter's mom in East Keptus, her rival Edna in Central Keptus, and Bobby playing in the park in West Keptus. Once you talk with these people, Peter's mom gives you a key, and you can get in Peter's hideout in Central Keptus (south of the library). If he's still alive, he'll send you to talk with some other guys. If not, you need to head into the Spine to find the tower Peter's journal mentioned. Spine: Head to the NW and you'll find a woman fighting trogs. Help her, and she will send you to the other guys. Don't help, or flee the battle, and you'll need to find her (again) in the troglo cave to the NE. Then she'll send you to the other guys. Other Guys: You'll find them south of the inn in West Keptus. Accept their mission, and head to the grove almost due south of Keptus. Talk with the man there, take the cube and enter the portal. Tower: Be careful in here! If you are caught while visible, you won't be able to complete this level and the outcome of the scenario will be drastically changed. Use the cube right away, and use it again when it runs out. Read the message board in the offices, and find the key under the bench in the water lab. Once you've entered the maintenance tunnel, you don't need to use the cube again. Split your party, then find your way to the cafeteria. Pay attention to the message when you open the door (and if you get caught! Then reload . . . ) and you should be able to figure out how to get by here. See the hints below for the solution. Go through the vent, rejoin your party and head up the stairs. Tower L2: Make sure you visit the library and read how to get a set of black armor and black weapon for yourself. Look around the level carefully and you can find a black medallion laying around. Kill Janus and his . . . true form and escape through the window to the north. If you didn't read about the dark soldiers in the library, you need to read about them here before you leave. Back in the Grove: Tell the man here of your success and head to Keptus to talk with your mysterious helpers. They lead you back to the Grove, and the portal takes you to an island this time. Island: Enter the cave and talk to everyone here. Find out the truth behind Janus' hidden nature. Get your new mission from Galvin and learn a bit about the Forsaken. Head to the Spine and stop in Keptus to get the item from the thief in the inn that Galvin told you about. The Spine: This place is supposed to be tough. Use the runed stone in every level to find the way through. Find the junction where the runes start and follow the path carefully, stopping only to kill the drakes and let Gwennyth join your party. The Spine L2: Don't forget to use the stone again! Put the stones on the pedastals marked by runes in this order (left to right): ruby emerald ruby diamond diamond emerald. In the final battle, ignore the arch drake and kill the others. Gwennyth will take care of it. The Spine L3: Use the stone! Follow the instructions on the pillar. Don't go down any passage not marked by a rune. Bad things will happen. If you leave this place, the stalagmites will reset and you'll have to start over. Look out for the weak spots in the floor. Leave here with much rejoicing. Kill a couple of bad guys on your way out of the Spine, and head towards the dam to the northeast. Prazac Dam: Wander around until you see a message that something seems out of the ordinary, then kill your attacker and a secret passage should appear in the middle. Inside the dam, head west through a couple of rooms of bad guys, swing back east through a large room, and south to the lever. Head back out of the large room and go south to the boat. Cross the large room, and head east, ignoring the double door for now. The next big room has four levers you need to flip in order to get a key in the north part of the room. I don't remember where all of them are . . . all are hidden and some are accessible only by boat, but all are in the same large room. Get the key and head through the double doors. Kill everybody and you've beaten these bad guys. If you didn't complete the tower mission, this is the end of the scenario. If you did . . . The Forsaken: Listen to Gwennyth's story, then head back to the grove once again. Get your final mission from Galvin and head back to Keptus. The access ladder is in West Keptus. Go down, head northeast across the lake, and find the cave on the east side of the rocky island. Ruined Town: Find the Slith journal in the sealed room (piercing crystals can be found in a secret room just off of the large cave filled with bones) and make sure you read the entire journal. Go to the ruined temple, listen to the taunts of your enemy, and find the human's journal at the base of the statue. Read it and you should be able to figure out the password to the door (see below for solution). You will now have three rather difficult encounters with a stubbern creature. These creatures are kept alive by energy totems, usually hidden close by. For the first encounter, the two totems are hidden just to the left of the entrance, and in the middle through the north side. Kill these and the creatures will permanently die. The second encounter has only one totem at the far end of the room. The third encounter has four hidden totems, and additionally more creatures will appear at a fixed interval. Use magic map to find the totems and move around in combat mode. Once the four totems are destroyed, you can access the stairs down. Enemy's Lair: You will reach a room where your enemy is trying to seal you in. Move in combat mode across here, avoiding the paralysis nodes. You can't go past the barrier until the creature creating it is killed. Kill it and pass through the barrier and kill the others. Fight your way to the exit down to the east. If you don't make it through the barrier, go quickly to the west (avoid the quickfire!) through the maze. Fight through the long stretch of tunnels and reach the tunnel down to the final room. Final Room: Kill everyone, then leave. You've won! To pass the cafeteria in the tower, you must equip shirt and pants found in the laundry room. Who wouldn't notice a guy in armor! To get the runed stone, talk to Delin in the West Keptus inn and ask about "thief". Then wait until you catch him. The black medallion is sitting on a table in a secret room on the west side of the tower. To solve the mystery in Briggston, talk to the innkeeper, then the mayor. Take the evidence then talk with poor Loren in jail. Ask him about the "gloves". Look at the window and fence. Talk to the mayor again. Talk to the lumber guy. Talk with Corusss the Slith salesman. Find the evidence. Confront the "real" killer. Talk to the innkeeper for your reward. In Briggston, to pass the test of persistance, just keep clicking on the flower pot. The test of patience requires just that; waiting. Look for secret doors for the other tests.
