I’ve noticed that in most scenarios, some details are ignored. There is money, but no gold mines. Stone buildings, but no quarries. Furniture, no woodcutters. Some shops that would be seen are also missing. Instrument shops, you could probably find one in a large city. Cabinet makers, they make all types of furniture. Masons, to build the houses, once you get stone. Everyone seems to sell from a shop, why not an open market? If a scenario has a river or oceans, why are the no fishermen? Put cattle farms in, and have someone market them. Create a monster using the horse graphic, and put a few riding horses and a lot of the horse monsters in a pen to create horse dealers. There are soldiers, but no iron mines. Steel weapons are sold, but no smelters.
Many scenarios have large cities, but no underworld. You can travel a huge city in some scenarios, and not see a single thief, and few beggers. And if you have thieves, place guards, who wander around, as well as soldiers, who guard gates and walls. Many people have lifeless cities, with houses only for people who own shops, and merely stores, and goverment buildings. Or they fill the city with people, and only have a few houses. Designers rarely put in parks, or line avenues with trees, and a city with a large coffer does.
And roads... all the roads in cities are paved, you won’t see a single dirt road inside the city limits. I adapt the hills graphic and use it for dirt.
