Ephicene

Ephicene is a new island of the Empire. Discovered 5 years ago, it is just a week's sail from the Empire City of Gale, Valorim.

Here, there is a large map of the whole of the Empire. The four continents are easily distinguishable. You locate Valorim, and the city of Gale. You then look eastwards, and find that Ephicene is on the map as well, tiny in comparison to the continents.

Here is a map of Ephicene, showing Aixlan as the main town, and all of the villages and ports. You recognize the geography of the isle: A high central plateau and a large fertile plain stretching for much of the island, the two forests and the swamp to the west, the river running through the swamps southward.

(...) He saw that Bathys had completely submerged. He also saw that a large area in the west of Ephicene was also still submerged (which would explain the swamp there). The rest of Ephicene had been swept away, every brick from every house had gone.

Fabulous searched the entire island but found no one, or any indication that anyone had ever been there. He retired to live in a cave in the highest area of Ephicene, petrified of another tsunami. He built a basic altar, and placed the Orb on it. He died after a short time, and the isle of Ephicene was unpopulated again. And so it remained.

It remained like that until the Empire continents began to be filled up, and space began to be scarce. A new wave of explorers were encouraged to find new islands and add them to the Empire.

Many Exiles did this, as they were hardier than most of the Surface people and were not as settled as the Surface Worlders. This worked for the Exiles, who were honored for their brave expeditions, and were rewarded with free land on the new islands.

It also suited the Empire, as the Exiles still did not fit in. They were still free spirits, unwilling to be crushed or sat on. The Empire still did not like the boat being rocked, after all those years of war and suffering.

In this way Empress Prazac successfully governs the Empire to this day.
